About Me
My mission is to use my tools as a massage therapist, yoga instructor, and educator to empower individuals toward a life free of pain and suffering; to help others develop the awareness and skills to adapt to their physical, mental, and emotional challenges; to share my successes and techniques I’ve discovered on my journey.
Passionate About Wellness
After finishing college I got stuck in your typical corporate routine, long commutes and staring at a screen for hours on end. At the early age of 27, my body ached, I was becoming overweight, and I was endlessly dissatisfied. Seeking to make a profound change in my life and become an active participant in my own wellness, I enrolled in massage therapy at the Institute for Therapeutic Massage in 2003. Inspired by an improved sense of well-being and positivity, I also earned a certification as a personal trainer from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. In June 2006, I graduated from the School of Integrative Therapies where I developed my skills in Structural Integration.
Education has always been a priority of mine and shortly after getting certified in massage, I began teaching massage therapy for my massage school alma mater. I’ve taught hundreds of students since 2005 and eventually became the Director of Education at The Institute for Therapeutic Massage in 2019. Sadly, the school closed its doors in 2022, but as a result, I was able to create my own continuing education courses which I offered to NJ massage therapists.
I completed my 200-hour yoga teacher certification with Yogaworks in 2008. This profoundly changed my life and ultimately led me to establish Highland Yoga which I owned and operated for over 15 years with my wife Carolyn. We also co-created the Ever Yoga Teacher Training Program in 2012 and certified teachers at the 200 and 500 hour levels.
My private bodywork practice, which I have maintained for over 23 years, has mainly focused on helping people get out of pain. My background in orthopedic massage and structural integration have given me myriad tools to helping others understand their healing potential. And while I have always been self-employed, I have also enjoyed working with other therapists in more traditional settings. I’ve had the pleasure of being a therapist for Massage Heights and Spavia in recent years, and this has reminded me of the significance of deep relaxation and awesome gift of touch. There are so many ways to create change in a being, and I truly appreciate all of them.
